Chicken first, then egg

I am coming to the conclusion that the chicken came first, not the egg. Every organism in existence continuously evolves when faced with environmental change, thus at some point the chicken was a microscopic insect that continually grew to devour it's enemies, and eventually stabilized to what it is now, but during that evolution the egg was created as a defence mechanism, it was not always there.
